Child Critical After Rescue
The lighting of this photo (light to dark across the image) makes it work. The bright foreground against the silhouettes in the background are a good balance, and the stillness of the in-focus upper two-thirds is offset by the grainy movement of the water. Nicely captured.

As uncomfortable as it may have been, taking these pictures was a must in illustrating the story to be written later.

Chemical Imbalance
Zoning issues are sometimes are to follow, and this report does a solid job of explaining the dispute from all angles. Report comes off as balanced, which is important on matters like this. Well done.

A Road Less Traveled
What a great presentation. Just a great story about someone dealt a tough hand but refused to quit. While there are a couple unanswered questions it is still a very good look into a very unique individual, athlete and student. Great job

Really liked how clear the author laid everything out, especially the small headlines throughout the paper that helped to break it up, and that made it easier to follow along.

Reynolds Wiley Shooting
This is an incredible photo. The rain, the reflection of the emergency lights on the school bus, the heaviness on the young student's face. It tells a sad story in a meaningful way.

That's a bit much
Outstanding, in-depth reporting on an issue that hits all local residents in the pocketbook. Homeowners deserve to know how changes in appraisal and pending property tax rates might impact them and this report goes the extra mile to spell it out, though the final decision lies with government officials. Very well done!

Now It's All Gone
Difficult pictures covering a challenging and difficult topic. Photos made Helene as famous as infamous. Photographer must have had waders or tall boots to take these pictures.
