Away from home: Indian boarding schools leave lasting legacy
The reporter does an amazing job drawing the reader in with person accounts of this hard and sensitive issue. While this could have been a simple "event preview" of sorts, the writer instead includes that as a way to learn more but goes the extra mile to help educate through stories, photos and examples of the hardship these people faced and the fallout that has ensued in the years since. Very well done.

Silent no more: Native communities call for end to crisis of missing and murdered indigenous women
This writer did a terrific job using personal accounts to catch the reader's attention and keep them hooked throughout this story. This is such an under reported topic, it's encouraging to see it covered in such a through way. Amazing job.

Marked absent: From kindergarten through college, men struggle in school
A very well-written article that draws the reader in right off the bat by presenting the issue from the perspective of someone who's lived it. Good supplementary information flows smoothly into potential explanations for and solutions to the problem. Well researched, good interviews, and a memorable, punchy final graf. Great work!

The writing is excellent, from a compelling peek behind the scenes of a tumultuous election night to play-by-play as party mates eat one another alive. So... come for the writing, stay for the utter roasting of hypocrisy. I can smell the smoke from here. The author does (and does very well) the only thing a good political journalist can these days: drop the facts like a mic and trust that there are still people out there who enjoy not being lied to. [insert standing ovation]
