Every single lead brightened my eyes and urged me to keep reading. Love the bluntness of the "You Suck" armband and the spider burger lead deserved one or two re-reads just because it was that good. Good job stepping out and using a personal identifier "I" and making it work so well.

The author takes an unusual approach to covering a typical game and the effort stands out. The quarterback was having a bad game, but had to stick it out. The category was dominated by "big game" stories and the stories that looked for an unusual angle and built on it or those that attempted to explain sports outside of the big game stood out.

Humor was a strong point in a mostly humorless category. Good job. You get the A, not an F.

Shoe leather journalism its finest. A story that had to be told. A lot of state and local officials should be very uncomfortable about this story. If they think replacing the jail is expensive, wait until they get the bill for not replacing it.
