The Lucas column was insightful and interesting, and the editorial covered an important topic but lacked the emphasis it deserved.

Life With Epilepsy
In addition to the intimate nature of these photos, they work really well to tell varied parts of the story.

Professional baseball was out 25 years ago
Really interesting history that some readers, especially baseball fans, might not know. The historical photos, and details that add context for the present day, are a nice touch.

Strong, biographical feature that combines A&E with an exploration of the more challenging topic of racism.

Justice for Charles McNeair
Great two lede grafs on the first story in the PDF. Good use of journalism to put pressure on the governor's office and commutation process, but it's also an important story because it's (potentially) an example of a district attorney's office unjustly pushing a young arrestee into prison via plea-deal pressure. The story conveys more information and controversy in 11 grafs than many much-longer stories do. Good job staying on the reporting trail for this issue. Keep it up.

Hometowns
Collection of columns narrating the weird events of the community’s somewhat recent history. The events are real! The writing is exceptional! Reader engagement is always a “goal.” This must have scored big.

A Parting Salute
This is a great series of photos. The weight of the various moments is clear, and all are done with a great sense of reverence. Lots of emotion here, and a great description of the event and its impact.
