Don't call him "Coach"
Jonathan Shuskey's personality comes thru in this story, and that's a credit to the writer. Excellent piece on someone who puts sports and life in general in the right perspective. Well done.

Community Pulse
Strong cover, pages inside looked well-designed and strong. Could have benefited from white space and better quote placement. But a good special section overall. Content well pulled together and presented.

Jimmy Tomlin columns
Strong connection to community, handled with respect and provides interesting historical glimpse while taking the reader on an adventure. Compelling, draws reader in quickly, overall good writing P.S. While design isn't being judged here, do consider using the subheads in a true subhead style so they are more graphically pleasing.

Infamy, Vacation, School
Your column on shadowing the elementary principal led the reader to visualize the very halls and classrooms you described. Loved the balsa wood wall reference! And you made one of those annoying ‘Best State’ rankings comical!

High Point Confidential—what a wonderful idea for a series of columns! Your entry included outstanding writing that was, by its nature of profiling former High Point residents, relevant to local readers. And you did it in an original style that kept me smiling throughout.

Jimmy Tomlin headlines
The headlines were clever, attention grabbing and effective at explaining what the stories were about. I particularly liked "The Thrill of the Haunt" because the headline would have worked with either the word "hunt" or "haunt." Of course, haunt was most effective because the story was about a haunted house. "Common Scents:" was not only a good play on words but also captured the theme of what the company was about. Well done.
