An advance piece that has some hidden depth to it, which reflects nicely on its subject -- the Peanuts comic strip.

Church, friends help 'good guy' on way to lung transplant
This story is built by its writer/reporter to reflect the community and especially the friends and neighbors helping one of their own survive a major medical procedure: double lung replacement! Great writing (though reporter offers some commentary).

Going Green: Progress ENC
A powerful section on “Green” energy development and consumption. Excellent stories focused on solar, wind, electric vehicles along other the effects on homes and schools-/consumers. Heavy on technology and delivering alternate energy services. Could have used other sources like consumers: what did students learn; what affected farm owners whose fields we turned to wind and solar energy sources. Excellent writing/reporting/ sourcing!

School security stories
A good mix of breaking and more enterprising takes on the issue. Lots of perspectives and stories were well organized. The stories were told with the reader -- what parents really want to know -- at the forefront.
