2nd and 3rd place were pretty close. Though I liked some of the facial expressions here, the angle the photo was taken at opened the gate for my eyes to wander at other faces that didn't have much for expressions.

This was a beautifully told piece that shows how even small-scale advocacy can make big waves. The writing was compassionate and the issue of human trafficking on tribal land is so important and extremely underreported. It's clear the reporter spent time, built trust and told a story that needed to be told. Strong presentation and strong message.

When it comes to telling the story this one does it very well. A very good look at the life of a victim that was rescued and hopefully recovering from the trauma suffered. It was very good.

Wonderfully captures mood and feelings of those in the photo and stands out for the way in which it tells the story of this colorful event
